When children play, stuffed animals often become characters in their imaginations that can morph, delight and soothe. They are the safe friends with whom they can unload their burdens; the playmates who can gallop them over the moon and back.
Our young son would play for hours with his animal friends, dragging them from room to room, then kissing each one good-night. Every night. All 40 of them.
In this blanket quilt, I stitched the universal memories of childhood; revisiting our first confidants, our beloved sleep snugglers, and our social stepping stones to life.
(Well-loved stuffed animals, repurposed linen sheet, satin fabric, cotton backing, bamboo batting. Hand appliquéd and hand quilted with cotton Perle floss.)
